In light of the recent order regarding containment measures against COVID-19 in NYC (taking effect 9:00 am on 03/17/2020), we want to inform you that all COTL open mics at Black Cat LES have been canceled indefinitely. Please note we will have to assess this ongoing situation alongside the venue so we cannot guarantee a specified return date but hope to be back in JUNE 2020. Please be safe out there and we will see you soon.
Protective Measures Against COVID-19:
We run several OPEN MICS each week that we treat as auditions to all the future shows we produce at Gotham Comedy Club, and Black Cat LES.
Rules are really simple:
1. Pay $5 plus buy an item from the bar to support the venue and you get between 5-7 minutes of stage time.
2. We only accept 20 comics at mics at Black Cat LES. If the list has up to 10 comedians each comedian gets 7 minutes of stage time. If the list has 11-13 each comedian gets 6 minutes of stage time. If we have 14-20 comedians signed up each comedian gets 5 minutes of stage time.
You have to be at the venue no later than 10 MINUTES BEFORE the mic starts in order to secure your spot otherwise we give your spot to walk-ins.
NOTICED THAT A MIC IS MISSING FROM THE CALENDAR? THERE'S A REASON FOR IT!
All our mic are scheduled to be weekly events. However, on a RARE occasion, we are forced to cancel the mic due to a holiday or the particular private event that is happening at the designated venue. Therefore you will see that you will not be able to register for those particular mics on those particular days as we try to get the confirmation from the venues way ahead. We don't like to waste anyone's time and money so we make sure we inform you on time. The bottom line, if the mic is listed on the calendar the mic is happening.
YOU RESERVED THE SPOT BUT CAN'T MAKE IT AFTER ALL?
We completely understand and all we ask is that if you know you won't make it, please cancel the reservation to free up the spot for someone else. We have a high demand but a limited number of spots. We thank you and others will too.
THE ONLINE RESERVATION SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING?
This doesn't happen very often but when it does it's due to the application that runs the scheduling (something we don't control). We are immediately informed about such an issue so in case you experience problems with online sign-ups send email to and we will take care of your reservation that way. We appreciate your patience and your assistance in such situations.
